Make Way for the First Sony Android Smart Phone

Many manufacturers are taking full advantage of the new Google Android operating system so it was only a matter of time before Sony decided to do the same. The Xperia X10 will be making its debut on the consumer market and promises to be quite a piece of electronic equipment. It has an 8.1 megapixel camera, music player, high speed Internet access, GPS, touch screen, and will also use applications from Sony Ericsson’s Play Now Arena or the Android Market. These are just a few of the added incentives that come with the X10 (also known as Rachel while being developed) and Sony admits this might be the first of several phones to come over the next year.

Even though their previous attempt at a smart phone with the X1 did not go over so well, Sony has high hopes they have fixed their issues with their control panel making it easier for users to navigate. They have made the X10 control panel to be more compatible with email, social networking, and other message apps.

The phone will be compatible with 2nd and 3rd generation mobile networks so it will not be excluding anyone. It runs Android version 1.6 and has a 1 Ghz Snapdragon processor manufactured and distributed by the US company Qualcomm. It also comes with standard face recognition software that can recognize up to five faces in a single picture. This helps making status updates and picture tagging on social networking sites a cinch.

Many critics claim this may be a feeble attempt by Sony Ericsson to get back in the game after reporting three straight quarterly losses. However, no matter what the reason we have always seen Sony produce quality products. While some are trying to compare the new Android software to that of the iPhone, you just have to remember that it is like comparing apples and oranges. Most users have a preference and will use what they like regardless of the compatibility or cutting edge technology of a phone.

Sony Ericsson has not given a release date for the new Xperia X10 or any price detail either. Only time will tell if this little device can get in the eyes and minds of consumers to urge Sony Ericsson to make another staple in the world of electronic gadgets.
