The HTC Desire, also called the Bravo and the Eris is converting some die-hard iPhone users. What does this phone have that is so powerful? Let´s take a look at the facts here in this quick article.
If you heard of the first "Google phone" the Nexus One, you will have heard about the operating system called Android that is taking the world by storm. The HTC Desire has this operating system but adds its own flair to the mix.
This "flair" is called "Sense" and is similar in principle to "Motoblur" for Motorola. This makes it impressive and easy to use. The Android system on this phone is the 2.1 version, which is still at the front of the pack, as far as smartphones go. Android is socialable, as in using lots of sociality. You can connect to contacts on different levels with ease. It is done automatically with the Android system.
When you take a look at the Desire, make sure to ask the salesperson about "HTC Friend Stream". The contacts are all routed to the screen in an easy-to-see format without any help from you. This is a terrific feature that may be the reason people are switching to HTC from Apple.
All the aspects of the Nexus One are present on the HTC Desire. The same screen, a 3.7 AMOLED style with multitouch is installed on the Desire. The AMOLED uses less energy than its LCD equivalent and is brighter also. This allows your battery to last longer. The Desire has a warp-speed processor running at a blazing 1000 megahertz. This is screaming for a smartphone and only one or two smartphones are faster. Applications are opening with a "pop", rather than having to wait, great for a person with little time on their hands.
One of the extras you get with the HTC Sense graphical interface is the ability to translate words or sentences in the browser. Hold your finger over some text for longer-than-usual and a window pops up allowing you to do translating or use a dictionary. This Desire also does not come with a trackball or D-pad. Instead it comes with a optical joystick. This is superior to a trackball because it will not trap dust. The camera has a five megapixel ability with LED flash and HD recording for video.
The phone will be released in Europe first. There is no anouncement about the United States. HTC has become very popular with carriers around the world, so it is likely it will come to the States. The carrier Telstra will offer it in Australia. Look for the HTC Desire to be available during the second quarter of 2010.
